Solutions / Shared iPads

Shared iPads,
managed with care.

For iPads at counters, warehouses and front desks, plan locked-down, single-purpose setups that stay consistent from shift to shift.

The challenge

The problem with a device everyone touches

  • Anyone can change settings or open apps the device was never meant for.
  • One iPad drifts from the next, and nobody knows which is which.
  • Cleaning up between shifts is manual and easy to forget.

How AAMDM helps

What you can do,
and when.

Phase 1

Know every iPad

Inventory shows model, serial number and management status, organized by location.

Phase 1

Enroll with a profile

Enroll an iPad with profile-based enrollment and confirm it appears in the workspace.

Phase 2

Restricted, single-purpose setups

Configuration policies are the foundation for limiting what a shared iPad can do. Which restrictions are available will be confirmed as they are released, and some Apple restrictions only apply to supervised devices.

Phase 2

Groups for each location

Group the iPads at one counter or warehouse and manage them together.

Planned

Reset between shifts

A routine to return a shared iPad to a known state is something we want to offer. Scope and timing are not committed.

Phase 1

An audit trail

See who changed what, and when.

Single-purpose restrictions and reset routines are not live. Policies are planned for Phase 2; reset routines are not yet scheduled. Phase badges show where each capability sits on the roadmap.

Setup

A simple way
to get started.

  1. 1

    Define the purpose

Decide the one job each shared iPad does: check-in, scanning, ordering or something else.

  2. 2

    Enroll the iPads

Enroll each iPad and name it by location so it is easy to find.

  3. 3

    Group and restrict

Group by site and apply restrictions as policies are released.

  4. 4

    Set a reset routine

Agree who resets a shared iPad and when, and keep that routine in your own procedures until it is built in.
