Employee Privacy Notice
Your employer uses AAMDM to manage a company device. This page explains, in plain language, what that does and does not let them see.
Last updated:
1. Who this notice is for
This notice is for people who use an iPhone, iPad or Mac that their employer manages with AAMDM. Your employer decides which settings and restrictions apply to your device. AAMDM provides the tool and processes device data on your employer’s behalf.
2. On company-owned supervised devices
When a device is owned by your employer and set up as supervised, administrators can see and do the following:
- See the device model, serial number and operating system version
- See which apps your employer has installed and manages on the device
- See compliance status and which policies are assigned to the device
- Apply configuration, such as passcode and connectivity requirements
- Lock the device remotely (a Phase 1 command, in development), or erase it (planned, not yet scheduled), for example if it is lost or when it is returned
None of the lock or erase capabilities above are available today. Others depend on features that are still being built. The features and platform pages mark them by phase.
3. On devices you enrolled yourself
If you enrolled a device with a configuration profile, administrators see a smaller set of information: the device model, serial number, operating system, managed apps, compliance status and assigned policies. A company may manage a personally owned device only with your informed consent and an employment relationship, as our Acceptable Use Policy requires.
What administrators can do on an enrolled device depends on how it is enrolled and on the protections Apple builds into the platform.
4. What administrators cannot see
Device management is about work settings and device state. Administrators using AAMDM cannot see:
- Your personal messages
- The content of your email
- Your photos
- Your browsing history
- Data inside your personal apps
Location is not collected as a matter of course. The one exception is Lost Mode: a company may explicitly enable Lost Mode on a lost, supervised, company-owned device so that it can be found. This capability depends on a later product phase and is not available today.
5. You can always check
Apple shows you what is managed on your device. On iPhone and iPad, open Settings → General → VPN & Device Management. On Mac, open System Settings → General → Device Management. You can see who manages the device and which profiles are installed.
6. Records of administrator actions
AAMDM keeps an audit log of administrative actions in your employer’s workspace, recording who did what to which device and when. This keeps actions accountable, for your employer and for you.
7. Who to contact
Start with your employer: they decide what is managed on your device and are responsible for answering questions about it. If you cannot resolve a question or request with them, write to contact@aamdm.com and we will help route it. To report misuse of the service, write to security@aamdm.com.
